Vision
The Institute for New Media and e-democracy gathers scientists and practical workers in the field of new media, mass media, public relations and political communications, educational, political and cultural institutions throughout the world, with a special emphasis on the South-Eastern Europe in which it has its seat. INMED is about to become an internationally acknowledged research center for new media, mass media, political communications, and public relations. Since it is the new media that foster the role of citizens in society making human knowledge widely available, promoting a new, progressive global politics and setting the foundations of new economy, the main function of INMED is to study the influence of new technologies on social and political processes, and to advocate a stronger interaction and active participation of citizens in the public and political life via on-line technology.
Aims
The main aims of the Institute for New Media and e-democracy are (1) better access of citizens to information and services of public administration (e-Governance), and (2) more intensive and wider involvement of citizens in the public and political sphere of life (e-Democracy), as well as the fostering of e-Engagement, whereby it directly fosters the mentioned socially useful perspectives of on-line technologies: e-Governance and e-Democracy.
