FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB AND THE INSTITUTE FOR NEW MEDIA AND E-DEMOCRACY ORGANIZING THE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT
The aim of the Program is specialization and acquisition of basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of public relations and communication management which is necessary for successful engagement in public relations in practice. Lecturers are renowned Croatian experts from the area of public relations, communication management, media, public appearances, and new communication technologies.

Program duration: 80 school hours.
Classes for the first generation of participants begin on 24 April 2009 and last until June 2009, and they will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Zagreb. The program includes free reference books, teaching materials, individual contact with lecturers and individual exercises before the cameras.
Upon a successful completion of the program, you will obtain the University certificate on the completed ˝School of Public Relations and Communication Management˝.
The price of program per participant amounts to HRK 12,000, which can be paid in installments in coordination with the organizers.
A prerequisite to enroll in this program is a completed vocational university program, a university degree or three years of work experience in the profession.
Application deadline has been extended due to the Easter holiday until Friday, 17 April 2009.
Filled-in application forms, a certified copy of diploma or a confirmation of three years of work experience on public relations jobs shall be submitted to the

FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB

The Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb was founded in 1962 as an institution of high education at the University of Zagreb. It is the oldest scientific institution in the area of political science in this part of Europe and the only studies of political science in the country. The Faculty offers two undergraduate university programs: politology studies and journalism. The Faculty has a scientific library covering the area of political science and communicology with over 50.000 books and an excellent collection of scientific and technical, domestic and foreign journals. In addition to this main library, the Faculty also has a journalism professional library and a reading room of the International Freedom Forum with the collection of international daily newspapers.
The Faculty of Political Science has a developed publishing activity. The scientific journal “Politička misao” comes out four times a year and there is a special issue in English (Croatian Political Science Review). The journal has been regularly published for as much as 33 years and it represents the scientific and technical journal of the highest quality in the area of political science and the related disciplines in Croatia. Apart from the journal, the Faculty also publishes an edition of books entitled "Biblioteka politička misao". Classic works of political science and books of contemporary foreign and Croatian political scientists were printed in this eminent edition. Scientific and research activities at the Faculty are carried out in a larger number of research teams dealing with the topics of political theory, elections and political parties, international political and economic relations, media and communication etc.
The Faculty regularly holds specialized seminars in journalism, local administration, elections and parties; it organizes scientific gatherings, conferences and public discussions. International cooperation is highly developed, both at the level of personal contacts and cooperation (within the framework of the International Political Science Association, Croatian Politological Society and regional cooperation of Central European associations for political science) and at the institutional level within the scope of CEEPUS, Fulbright, Irex, Humbolt and other programs. The Faculty of Political Science is also a member of the European Consortium for Political Research. The Faculty’s vision is to continue developing excellence and to achieve the status of internationally recognized scientific institution which, thanks to its high scientific and teaching standards, provides all of its students and participants with a systematic transfer of knowledge they need in their present or future careers.
THE INSTITUTE FOR NEW MEDIA AND e-DEMOCRACY

The Institute for New Media and e-democracy gathers scientists and practical workers in the field of new media, mass media, public relations and political communications, educational, political and cultural institutions throughout the world, with a special emphasis on the South-Eastern Europe in which it has its seat. INMED is about to become an internationally acknowledged research center for new media, mass media, political communications, and public relations. Since it is the new media that foster the role of citizens in society, making human knowledge widely available, promoting a new, progressive global politics and setting the foundations of new economy, the main function of INMED is to study the influence of new technologies on social and political processes and to advocate a stronger interaction and active participation of citizens in the public and political life via on-line technology.
One of the key prerequisites of the democracy future is the concept of e-democracy, which INMED particularly promotes. INMED encourages young, but also already established scientists to be active in the field of new media, mass media, political communications, and public relations, supporting interdisciplinary research and moving the limits of science, giving them the intensive experience of developing their scientific and professional potentials, enabling them to experiment, deepen and pass on their knowledge and develop new ideas. INMED will promote new concepts and innovation in the areas it covers. This is how it wishes to empower various parts of society and set into motion the development of efficient strategies and politics, and the exchange of best practices in the relevant areas of its operations.
The main aims of the Institute for New Media and e-democracy are (1) better access of citizens to information and services of public administration (e-Governance), and (2) more intensive and wider involvement of citizens in the public and political sphere of life (e-Democracy), as well as the fostering of e-Engagement, whereby it directly fosters the mentioned socially useful perspectives of on-line technologies: e-Governance and e-Democracy.
